How to set up Malta IPTV on iOS

Getting Malta IPTV onto an iPhone or iPad differs from Android in one important way: Apple does not ordinarily allow apps to be installed from a web page, so you either install our build and trust its profile once, or pick a player from the App Store. Both work well — the App Store path is the simpler one, ours spares you typing a server address. Everything below covers iOS 14 and later.

checklistBefore you start

  • An iPhone or iPad running iOS 14 or newer
  • Your username, password and server URL from the subscription email
  • An Apple ID, if you go the App Store route

Step-by-Step Setup

iOS Installation

1
download

Download Malta Player or a Player

Open our Downloads page in Safari and choose the iOS build. Because it does not come through the App Store, iOS asks you to trust it a single time: go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management, tap the profile and confirm. Prefer not to? The App Store carries IPTV Smarters Lite, GSE Smart IPTV, UHF and Chillio — all of them play your subscription happily.

2
login

Open the App & Login

In Malta Player, enter the username and password from your subscription email and it activates free of charge. In an App Store player, choose "Xtream Codes API" and fill in the server URL, username and password — or paste your M3U link if that is your preference. Xtream Codes is the better choice: it brings the programme guide and on-demand library along, and it keeps working if a server address ever changes.

3
notifications

Allow Notifications

Say yes when iOS asks. Notifications are how you hear about planned maintenance or a server address change — without them, the first sign of trouble is a player that has quietly stopped working, when the answer was sitting in a message you never received.

4
battery_charging_full

Turn Off Low Power Mode

Low Power Mode restricts background networking, which shows up as stuttering a minute or two into a live channel. For longer sessions, switch it off or keep the device charging. It is comfortably the most common explanation for "plays briefly, then stops" on iPhone.

5
play_circle

Start Watching

Channels, films and series appear in their categories. Search for any channel directly, and use AirPlay from inside the player to send the picture to an Apple TV or compatible television — quality is preserved because the stream passes straight through.

Common problems

Fixes specific to iOS

"Untrusted Enterprise Developer" when opening the app

The trust step has not been completed. Go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management, tap the developer profile, then tap Trust. The app refuses to open until you do — that is simply how iOS treats software from outside the App Store.

Playback stops when the screen locks

Normal behaviour for video on iOS unless the player offers background audio. Disable Auto-Lock while you watch — Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock > Never — and switch it back afterwards.

Some channels refuse to play while most work

Different channels use different stream formats, and not every player understands them all. Try another recommended player for those channels; GSE Smart IPTV in particular covers formats the lighter apps skip.
