How to set up Malta IPTV on Android
Of every way to watch Malta IPTV, an Android phone or tablet is the quickest to get going — most people finish inside five minutes. Two routes are open to you: Malta Player, our own app, which signs in with nothing more than a username and password, or any well-known IPTV player from the Play Store, which additionally wants the server address. Both are walked through below, and everything applies from Android 7 upwards.

checklistBefore you start
- An Android phone or tablet running Android 7.0 or newer
- Your subscription email with the username, password and server URL
- A stable internet connection — 15 Mbps or faster for 4K
Step-by-Step Setup
Android Installation
Download Malta Player or a Player
Fetch Malta Player from our Downloads page. Because it is not distributed through the Play Store, your browser asks for one permission before installing: tap Settings in that dialog, allow installs from your browser, then go back and open the file. Rather use a store player? Install IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate or XCIPTV from the Play Store.
Open the App & Login
Launch the app once the install finishes. In Malta Player, type the username and password from your subscription email and tap Login — it activates on its own, at no extra cost. In a store player, select "Xtream Codes API" instead of M3U and enter the server URL, username and password exactly as they appear in the email. Xtream Codes earns its keep: it delivers the programme guide and the on-demand library, where a plain M3U link delivers channels alone.
Wait for Content to Load
The first run syncs your channel list, the EPG (the on-screen programme guide) and the film and series catalogue. Give it ten to thirty seconds — more on a slower line, since the guide itself can cover several days of listings. Let it finish before you start browsing; interrupting it is the number one reason a guide later looks empty.
Set Up Favourites
Long-press any channel to mark it as a favourite, and do it sooner rather than later: the complete list runs into the tens of thousands, and scrolling that on a handset gets old fast. Most players can also hide categories you never touch, which makes loading and navigation noticeably quicker.
Start Watching
Move through the categories, search by name, or open the guide to see what is on now and next. Channels play in HD, Full HD or 4K wherever the broadcaster provides it — the player picks the best automatically, and you can step the quality down from the playback menu if your connection is having a moment.

Fixes specific to Android
The install fails with "App not installed"
Nine times out of ten there is an older copy of the same app already on the device. Uninstall it from Settings > Apps and try again. Still refusing? Wipe the Package Installer cache via Settings > Apps > Show system apps > Package Installer > Storage.
Channels buffer on mobile data but not on Wi-Fi
Mobile carriers tend to slow sustained video traffic. Drop the stream quality in the player settings, or switch to 5 GHz Wi-Fi where you can — the crowded 2.4 GHz band is rarely up to dependable 4K.
The TV guide is empty
The EPG downloads apart from the channel list and can take several minutes on first launch. Refresh it by hand from the player settings — look for "Refresh EPG" or "Update guide" — and leave the app open until it completes.
